Many people assume that a big cage is always a good cage, but they often ignore the bar spacing. If your rats can fit their heads through, they will escape into the house.
Choosing the Best Cages for Rats requires balancing vertical room with floor space. You should prioritize quality materials and easy cleaning over flashy add-ons. Here is what you need to know before you buy.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize cages with bar spacing of 0.5 inches or less to prevent your pets from squeezing through the gaps.
- Look for multi-level designs that include solid ramps or platforms to protect your rats' feet from wire-induced injuries.
- Choose models with large access doors so you can reach every corner for simple sanitation routines.
- Check that the base features a removable tray to catch debris and make your weekly cleaning tasks much faster.
- Ensure the overall dimensions provide enough horizontal floor room for exercise because rats are active creatures that enjoy running around.
