Are you looking to turn your letterbox into a unique piece of art? I have spent time analyzing the market to determine which kits offer the most durability for outdoor displays. While these sets are designed for indoor canvases, I have compared the specifications to help you find a match. The right paint quality and structural frame are essential, so let’s look at which options offer the most value for your project.
1. Kidstique Customize Your Personalized DIY Paint-by-Numbers kit Using a Photo of Your Choice. Great Gift idea for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or Father's Day 12×16
This kit earns its ranking because it offers a fully personalized experience by turning your own photos into a painting guide. It is the best choice if you want your letterbox numbers to feature a specific family image or a custom design.
In my view, the 12×16 size provides enough surface area to keep details clear even from a distance. Just keep in mind that the final outcome relies heavily on the quality of the photograph you submit to the manufacturer.
Buyers frequently choose this option for highly personal, one-of-a-kind art projects.
The 12×16 canvas size is generally viewed as an ideal middle ground for exterior visibility.

2. Mowana Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults – Hydrangeas Adult Paint by Numbers for Beginners on Canvas with Frame and Easel, Easy Acrylic Oil Painting by Number Kits 8×12 inch
This set is best for floral art hobbyists who prefer a structured design over custom work. It is a reliable choice for beginners who want a clear, manageable pattern without the complexity of a custom image.
I find the inclusion of a built-in frame and easel to be a convenient touch for assembly. However, the smaller 8×12 dimension might feel a bit cramped if you are trying to paint large, bold house numbers.
Users appreciate the convenience of receiving a pre-framed canvas ready for assembly.
The floral patterns are consistently praised for being beginner-friendly and relaxing to complete.

3. Texture of Dreams Personalized Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults, Acrylic Painting Oil Painting on Framed & Stretched Canvas, Customized DIY Paint by Numbers Set Painting for Beginners (12" x 16")
The most unexpected feature of this kit is the high-quality, stretched canvas that remains taut even after you apply multiple layers of acrylic. This structural integrity is what makes it my top pick for long-term display.
I believe the customization process is more consistent here than with competing photo-to-paint services. It provides a professional finish that stands up well to decorative use.
This kit is widely recognized for its superior canvas tension and overall durability.
Buyers often highlight the quality of the paint included as a primary benefit.

4. CraftBliss Black Lab Paint by Numbers Kits for Adults Beginner 12 x 16 Inch
A common limitation reported by buyers is the small paint pots that require careful management to ensure you do not run out during the final stages. Despite this, the intricate design makes it a beautiful choice for animal lovers.
I think the 12×16 inch format is perfect for displaying a specific animal motif on a mailbox. It is a charming way to personalize your entryway if you are willing to manage your paint supply efficiently.
The detailed imagery of the animal portraits is a consistent highlight in user feedback.
Many users recommend buying extra sealant to protect the finished work from light moisture.

5. Nezyo 8 Sets Mini Paint by Numbers for Adults 8 x 8 Inch with Wooden Easels
These mini canvases offer a collaborative approach compared to the single, large-scale projects found in the rest of this list. They are ideal if you want to involve your family in creating a series of small, themed numbers for your letterbox.
In my opinion, the small 8×8 size is the biggest limitation because it lacks the presence of larger kits. However, having eight sets allows for more creative flexibility in how you arrange your display.
The inclusion of wooden easels in every set is viewed as a major value add.
This kit is the preferred choice for group activities or family-oriented painting sessions.

6. Caydo 4 Pack Custom Paint by Numbers from Photo, A4
This set became popular because it offers a bulk quantity of canvas panels at a competitive price point. I find that this reputation for value holds up well for those who need multiple panels for a large-scale project.
While it is great for volume, the A4 sizing may require more effort to mount securely on a letterbox. It is a practical solution for anyone prioritizing quantity and cost over large, singular art pieces.
The A4 size is commonly cited as a convenient scale for smaller, multiple-part signage.
Buyers note that the panels are easy to store and organize before painting begins.

Choosing Between Them
If you want the best results for your letterbox, I recommend the Texture of Dreams kit because its framed and stretched canvas provides the rigidity needed for a professional look. For custom portraits, Kidstique is my preferred choice, while Mowana serves floral hobbyists best, CraftBliss delights animal lovers, Nezyo facilitates group fun, and Caydo works for bulk projects.
Please remember that these kits are intended for indoor use. I suggest you apply a clear weather-resistant sealant to whichever option you choose to protect your work from the elements. This extra step is the only way to ensure your decorative letterbox numbers survive the changing seasons outside your home.
